Hovik Abrahamyan

Born on January 24, 1958 in the village of Mkhchyan, Ararat region.

Graduated from the Yerevan Institute of National Economy.

Served in the Soviet Army.

1990-1991 - Head of the Burastan Brandy Factory.

1991-1995 - Director of the Artashat Wine and Cognac Factory.

1995-1999 - Member of the RA National Assembly of the first convocation.

1995-1996 - Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Artashat City Council.

1996-1998 - Mayor of Artashat.

1998-2000 - Marzpet (Governor) of the Ararat region of the Republic of Armenia.

2000-2001 - Minister of Territorial Administration and Coordination of Urban Planning of the Republic of Armenia.

2001-2002 - Minister of Territorial Administration of the Republic of Armenia.

2002-2005 - Minister of Territorial Administration and Coordination of Infrastructure Activities of the Republic of Armenia.

2005-2007 - Minister of Territorial Administration of the Republic of Armenia with the functions of the coordinating minister.

2007-2008 - Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Minister of Territorial Administration of the Republic of Armenia.

April 21, 2008 - September 5, 2008 - Head of the Office of the President of the Republic of Armenia.

On August 24, 2008 he was elected to the fourth convocation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.

On September 29, 2008 he was elected Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia of the fourth convocation.

On November 14, 2011, he resigned from his post as chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia and November 21 confirmed it.

May 6, 2012 - elected as deputy and speaker of parliament.

2012-2014 - Chairman of the National Assembly of the fifth convocation.

2014-2016 - Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia

He was awarded the Anania Shirakatsi Medal, the Prime Minister’s Commemorative Medal, the Marshal Baghramyan Medal, the Nansen Gold Medal, the Greek Parliament Gold Medal, and the Union of Theater Workers Gold Medal for the invaluable services rendered to theater art in connection with the International Theater Day.

Married, has three children and eight grandchildren.
